There are now 5 merit source application that have been submitted on meta and currently awaiting theymos approval including my own merit source application.

Here's the list:

skarais, you made this list 2021, I know there are more applications and the recent one is that of Igebotz. Can anyone confirm if theymos has accepted the application of any of the above applicants. If no, that means it might be time for him to accept more merit sources because it is obvious that more users have joined this forum and more local boards created since this application was dropped.

Based on my brief review of the merit history of all the users you quoted above - then I can confirm that all of the above apps have not been approved till now. Theymos hasn't added any new merit sources so far - but we obviously don't know why.

Check each user's merit information below - compare the amount of merit they earn and the merit they spend as one way to find out the merit source. I hope you will definitely be able to find the right answer.

@KingsDen you are not wrong from all what you've said. Although I have spent not more than a year in the forum I have come across many different new members in the forum  and with a daily increasing number it would make more sense to also increase the number of merits source, especially giving opportunity to those that voluntarily want to render their service and are worth the privilege.

_BlackStar has given the right answer to your question, it seems. That seems to be the case, no new merit source have been added yet and I support making some additions if Theymos really wants to do it. The merit ratio per post on some local board needs to be increased based on the quality of the posters there, but adding sMerit allocation to active merit sources is not a bad idea either.

Thanks _BlackStar, I have figured it out from your tips, non of the applications was approved. But the applicants are still contributing and distributing their earned smerits fairly.

I do not support this idea. No matter how fair and dedicated a merit source is, he must have unintentionally aligned with some certain users and will easily hand out merits to them while some others are unintentionally ignored. Besides, increasing an smerit of some who recieves 1000 to 2000 is increasing work load.
I believe it will be better to add new sources, even if a few of them. That energy of a new source would be there for atleast 1 year and it will foster distribution.

Within one week I have come across three applications for merit sources. And the most striking attribute is that they are from the Nigerian community. I am sure that with the increase in merit source applications, the embargo placed on the appointment of merit sources will be lifted so that we can have more merit sources. Upgrade00 is a respected member of our community that distributes his merits without prejudice. It will be a great disservice to the community if I fail to support his application. I am sure he will perform his duty in a just and reasonable manner. I  support his merit source application.

It's very sucking to see lots of pending application without effort to approve any of them, I know how they feels and sometimes it might be they aren't valued enough in the forum even as that Theymos should at least give positive feedback to them or possibly respond to those application maybe he response may determined if more people would keep applying for merits source, or he should possibly write that he doesn't need anyone to apply for a merits source at the moment in other not to keep them pending.

No - I think @theymos has seen and reviewed every application, but maybe it's not time for acceptance yet for one reason or another. So I think any user who has submitted a merit source app just needs to be patient and keep updating his thread with quality posts that lack merit.

I don't see anything bad about the delay as long as the merit goes to users who have good quality posts. There may be a need to refresh the system and add merit sources in some sections - but as far as the merit system is implemented almost all sections already have resources.

It's just that sometimes some merit sources can't afford or don't intend to spend too much sMerit and only get 1 on a different user's post - it can be monitored on several local boards via bpip or Merit Dashboard.

I have seen many posts by Nigerians here and it seems that the forum has changed the lives of many so having a Merit source for the Nigerian Local board is essential. I see several applications now and all may be accepted in future when new merit sources are updated.
Until then, I support this request, and if there are posts worthy of merits, post them here^[1] will support it.

This application was done back in 2021 year end and is still pending approval.

Bugs me, is the addition of merit sources going to be none for the future unless the traffic in the forum increases again? I hope this is not the case because my local board is suffering from the lack of merits and I am running dry to help them out.

I don't think there is a need for all that consoling Upgrade00 about his merit source application not being approved like he is on distress.
That was just a nomination of himself to offer the public service as a merit source which by virtue, he is already been a generous merit distributor. Only that he needed more of sMerits to spread his meriting pool.

So I don't think he feels distressed for the sympathy. Much I believe his capacity being a reputable user of the forum and likely, Theymos not approving his applications like he did to others wont make him (Upgrade00) deviate from his kindness of distributing merits.

Who knows... Maybe Theymos may have him on reserve with a more better allocation of merits in the future because it seems those who had recently been approved of their applications may be allocated with a minimum rate of sMerits which may have prompted the approval of a whole 3 merit source at a time from the Nigerian local board.

I would rather not speculate on the reason my application hasn't been approved. theymos makes the final decision and that's it really.
Focus should be on those that got approved and how beneficial that will be for the various boards they are focused on.

Don't worry and don't lose hope of becoming a merit source because you are a good poster and you've done so much for the forum and the Naija local board. Maybe theymos has his reasons why he's yet to approve your Merit Source application, and I believe with time you will become a Merit Source.
