When I was a kid, that world gambler is usually seen from a bad light like something reserved for irresponsible people of the society. This made gamblers then do their business discreetly and sometimes in secret. It was like that for a very long time until sports betting became so popular that things began to change. Today parents discuss gambling with their children who are of age and even in market places, people freely discuss gambling without fear. If I hear people mention gambling now, the first thing that will come to mind is if there is any information that will fetch me money, as simple as that.

An addicted gambler cannot behave responsibly. Every gambler must have a family and if they do not meet the family expenses but rather spend money from the family, then it is natural that the general public will have a negative view of that gambler. Among the gamblers who gamble after properly fulfilling their family and work with responsibilities, then gambling is not such a problem for those gamblers. But the addicted gambler naturally ruins that situation. They are addicted to gambling in such a way that gambling is generally known as a bad thing. For this, I think it is not gambling but the behavior of the gambler that is responsible. If any person neglects his responsibilities, then nothing good can be expected from him.

My answer is No.
That's the reason I don't gamble publicly, I gamble online so that nobody knows, not even my own family.
I know myself and how to limit it, those with hypocritical minds think that gambling is irresponsible, but they lack understanding of it.

If I were a gambler facing this unfair label, I’d probably do two things.
First, I would silently ignore the haters because, honestly, you can’t stop people from sticking their noses where they don’t belong.  
But second, and more importantly, I’d put my money where my mouth is by practicing clear, responsible gambling habits that prove they totally wrong.

As we know already people are usually like that and whenever they don't know anything about what their fellows are doing they turns into criticism because they had little or no knowledge about what others are doing. For people who do say about bad about gambling then there's nothing we can do about it and thats how it is and there's nothing we can do. So its better that you shouldnt be that making yourself that being that too sensitive on what the community on what would be saying into it. They will be that not minding too much and just that play according into their wants or according into their interest.
There are those who do able to sustain and wont be able to control themselves on which they do play but still not be able to get addicted.

You cant change someone's atittude towards gambling. Some might ne responsible but they are witty and tacky. It doesnt mean they arent responsible cause they always on the losing sides. Nobody can perfect the word responsible gambler. Also how to denotes those term responsible? Is it something like you stop when you reach your quotable spending? Does it mean responsible enough?

Responsible gambling is knowing when to stop and you stop it, responsible is standing on your words for instance; you can say I want to gamble with 20$ today and when this money is exhausted there is no moment you would go and make additional deposit, responsible gambling is you don't borrow money to gamble and satisfy your gambling desire, responsible gambling is you don't gamble compulsively, responsible gambling is knowing when you are free to gamble without conflicting your working hours to gambling, responsible gambling is you don't take money belong to family affair or money that belongs to someone to gamble knowing too well that it is something else and not to use it to gamble.

I don’t really blame people that think gambler’s are irresponsible people, if you see what addicted gamblers do in the society, then you are definitely going to feel bad as a gambler, addicted gamblers are the reasons why people in the society see gambling as a bad activity. Have seen gamblers do crazy things in the society, they sell their properties, steal from the society, and other crazy things.

Yeah somehow we could consider responsible to discipline which is a term used to keeping his hands when its needed to stop. When someone become addicted to it, its so rare to see exemption to all what you just cited. Maybe some users will say they did, but not totally telling the trurth. As I've said a few times, there are people who prefer to spend their money getting drunk, with women in nightclubs, with drugs that I consider much worse than gambling. The fact that I'm a gambler doesn't make me irresponsible, unless I put my family at risk by spending money that should be used for bills, rent or other priorities. People in my country are more concerned about gambling addiction than money laundering. Gambling is seen as a legitimate business in my country, where only a few people see it as dirty money.  We could see many gambling companies partnering with football clubs in some major leagues. With the increase in KYC requirements in most casinos, the rate of gamblers using casinos for illegal activities has declined to some extent. The belief that my lucky day will come makes me not envy or be jealous of anyone who has a big win.

Just as a result this many people tend to be hiding to gamble even when they knew that what they are doing is legalized, it is so sad I must say but on the second thought do you really care about what the society will say especially when you knew that personally you are not gambling irresponsible just like a cleared conscience fear no accusations, you didn't kill anyone neither did you still, you are doing what you like and how you want it which is not punishable according to the law. As for me I am careless about what people will say as to this regards if actually am not guilty of being an irresponsible gambler.

Everyone has different views and everyone has the right to criticize someone. But for me, if the criticism is not true, I will ignore it and there is no need to waste time defending myself. Because whatever we do will look negative in the minds of those who judge us as irresponsible.

Traditionally someone that defines themselves as a gambler could be seen as a bit reckless, but that's probably because they've defined themselves around a losing proposition for 99% of people. Someone that gambles occasionally in their free time might never mention it, as it's just one of many activities they partake in - tennis, video games, gardening, etc. Some people think it is cool to be defined as a gambler, but unless you are a profitable poker player making an income from it, there are very few other avenues for you to have long term success. It's not even a hobby like collecting coins or stamps, where you find it interesting and some of the value might be retained and maybe grow over time. It's not really a label that most people find respect in because of these reasons.

Are you sure that only few people see gambling as dirty money? Imho people often lie about their real opinion. When being in a group, they can say anything, but when talking 1 on 1 they give the truth. Even if you say its legal and people in majority feel positive or neutral about it, they would not want if their second half, relative or kid get involved in gambling. Kind of yes, but no for people I care. I think that even if gambling turns into completely transparent, white business, people would win more than lose, society would still look awry on gamblers.

we can't judge someone as an irresponsible person just because he's a gambler, because whether or not someone is a gambler should have nothing to do with his responsibility. even if there are some cases where a gambler becomes an irresponsible person, whether with his family or something else, we shouldn't generalize all gamblers as irresponsible people. we need to look further into the person's personality, then we can see if he's responsible or not. but it's unfortunate that many people's perceptions of gamblers are bad like that, even though gambling is not a bad thing... what's bad is if it's done excessively.

I’ve been playing for many years, with different frequency. I used to play much more often, now I do it way less. But I’ve never considered myself any kind of significant player, and I’ve never told anyone about it. Maybe the people closest to me know that sometimes I might place a bet or two, but they all understand that for me it’s just another hobby, because by nature I’m a passionate person.

And since I have more than one hobby, and all of them require my time, from time to time I switch from one to another. Some of my hobbies bring me much bigger profit, so I naturally dedicate more time to them as well. I believe this is the right position in life, if no one knows that you play, then no one will ever judge you for it.

Let them think negatively. Perhaps that only gives them stress thinking of others' lives while we enjoy our day gambling. There are many and very common in a place where the only thing they can do is monitor the lives of their neighbors.

I don't bother myself hearing them. Besides, I know myself that I am different from other gamblers. I gamble responsibly and have never been in trouble. There is nothing to explain to these people because they will not listen to us. Maybe someday they will just realize that they are wrong.
